What We Do
We operate at the intersections of capital markets, corporate accountability, and social movements because we believe capital strategies must be part of the movement for change. We organize with investors and communities on the ground to build a fair and balanced economy—changing systems to work for all of us.
Join us as we democratize economic power to advance climate action, racial justice, and workers’ rights.
Majority Action’s Role in Protecting our Future
Investor power is one of the least understood—and yet most impactful—levers for change.
The decisions made in corporate boardrooms and capital markets shape the economy we all rely on, setting the terms of both our present and our future. These decisions determine if workers are paid fairly and treated with dignity, if families can access safe and affordable housing, if communities thrive in clean and healthy environments, and if economic opportunity is shared equitably across race and class. Today, those who hold economic power face a choice: continue to entrench inequality and deplete natural resources, or build an economy rooted in fairness, sustainability, and shared prosperity.
Majority Action is a research and organizing hub that ensures these choices work for the majority, not just the powerful few.
We equip investors with the tools to use their influence responsibly—linking their investment decisions to the realities faced by frontline communities. By building direct connections between capital and those most affected by it, we help ensure investor activities, such as proxy voting and engagement with companies, strengthen, rather than harm, our shared future.
When mobilized for long-term value creation, investor organizing becomes a powerful force capable of mitigating systemic risks that threaten us all. We help to organize the capital held by institutional investors, like labor and pension funds, religious institutions, and foundations, which have a vested interest in responsible investing that aligns with the values and needs of their beneficiaries, worker stakeholders and our communities.
In a moment where political systems are gridlocked and other regulatory agencies and accountability mechanisms are captured, investors remain one of the last lines of defense, and one of the best chances we have to build a future grounded in dignity, democracy, and long-term value creation.
What We Do
We focus on the overlooked nuances most critical for systems change, offering practical pathways to build collective power through capital strategies.
Through research, investor organizing, and campaigns that bring together investors, social justice organizations, and frontline communities, we’re building a financial system grounded in accountability and participation.
We work with:
Asset owners and pension fund trustees to demand stronger stewardship from the financial institutions managing their money.
Impacted grassroots communities and labor allies to connect frontline realities with financial power.
Movement partners and policymakers to align capital strategies with long-term public value.
We advance strategies that:
Use research, education, and narrative change to show how race, labor, and capital markets shape and reinforce one another- and why transforming these relationships is essential to building economic literacy and participatory power
Organize with leading pension funds and foundations to ensure climate and racial inequity are fully and accurately factored into investment decisions and long-term financial projections
Organize a cross-movement effort to ensure AI’s transformative potential benefits the many by putting safeguards in place that protect climate action, racial justice and worker rights to help secure a future that reflects our collective priorities and shared values
Shine a spotlight on the outsized influence of the largest asset managers—whose investment decisions and stewardship choices shape corporate behavior across the economy. We make their actions visible, hold them accountable, and mobilize stakeholders to demand they use their power responsibly
We’re organizing for economic democracy to ensure that the money meant to secure our futures stops fueling our collapse. A future where everyone has an opportunity to participate in, shape, and benefit from the economy, not just survive it.
